Dave, Wayne & Ed At The 2009 Adaptive Golf Clinic at PLG provided by Northeast Passage, a program of the University of New Hampshire’s College of Health and Human Services. Northeast Passage is a nationally recognized leader in the provision of innovative therapeutic recreation services and is an affiliate of Disabled Sports USA.
The afternoon was divided between working on teaching adaptive skills on the driving range, putting green, as well as on course tips and techniques.
Thanks to all our local volunteers Dick Surrett, Ken Jeffery, Nick Stadtfeld, Dave Porter, Wayne Grenier, George Ackerman, Dave & Gena Johnson and Al Carlson (for the 800 photos he snapped) for giving up their Sunday afternoon to attend the clinic.
The aim of our Adaptive Golf Program is to make PLG available to players with disabilities so that they can continue to enjoy the wonderful game of golf. The volunteers named above will be available to share the knowledge gleaned from the clinic with players who may need assistance, including the use of our Solo Rider, on the range or on the course.
Golf is a great game that truly can be life a life long sport. With a few pieces of adaptive equipment and the correct instruction a wide variety of individuals with disabilities can begin to enjoy, or continue to enjoy, the great game of golf.
Based at the University of New Hampshire’s Durham campus, Northeast Passage runs three core programs for people with disabilities, their families and friends:
Sports & Recreation
TREK
(Therapeutic Recreation Empowering Kids) PATH (Promoting Access Transition Health)
